This is where it all begins…
The selections that shape how a home feels, functions, and supports the people that inhabit them.

THE FOUNDATION

Signature Service

  • The Foundation is the core offering at AVD Interiors. Designed to streamline decisions, align with the build, and set the tone for the entire home.

This is not styling. This is not decoration.
This is the critical thinking and design intelligence behind the materials, finishes, lighting and joinery that shape a home’s identity.

AVD Interiors provides a focused design service for clients seeking intelligent, cohesive, and confident design direction, without the extended engagement of full-service interior design.

Delivered clearly. Resolved quickly. Documented professionally.

When a home is under construction, or soon will be, AVD Interiors step in to bring alignment, clarity, and elevated design decisions to the process, so the end result reflects the investment being made.

Best Suited To

  • A builder or architect may already be engaged. The framework is in place. But the decisions that shape how a home feels, the finishes, fixtures, joinery, and spatial detailing…are still to come. And with every step forward, the pressure to get it right intensifies.

This is where considered design direction becomes essential.

    This is for those who:

    • Want to avoid trend-driven selections and short-term thinking

    • Expect materials and finishes to work together with subtlety and intention

    • Value calm, consistent decision-making in a fast-moving project

    • Understand that layout, joinery, and material flow need to be resolved early, or risk being compromised later

    • Prefer a design process that’s efficient, elevated, and outcome-focused

No hand holding, just clear, confident decisions made once, and made well.

What’s Resolved

  • One dedicated consultation (90 minutes) to understand architectural intent, material preferences, and spatial needs.

  • Selection of every material and finish that defines the interior tone of the home, with cohesion, restraint, and long-term integrity in mind.

    Finishes & Fixtures Palette includes:

    • Interior paint colours (walls, ceilings, trims)

    • Flooring material (timber, tile, stone, concrete)

    • Wall tiles (wet areas + feature zones)

    • Benchtop surfaces (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry)

    • Splashback material

    • Cabinetry finishes (external + internal)

    • Cabinet handles or integrated detailing

    • Tapware and fittings (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry)

    • Basin and sink finishes

    • Grout colours

    • Skirting, architrave, and cornice finish selection

    • Internal door hardware

    • Feature lighting fixtures (pendants, sconces, wall lights)

    • Kitchen appliance finish selection (if required)

Lighting selections are included as part of the visual and material cohesion, recommending fixtures that complement finishes, joinery, and overall spatial feel. Technical lighting plans and electrical layouts remain the domain of the builder or electrician.

All selections are curated with a specific level of finish in mind, sourced from trusted suppliers. Each material is considered in relation to the whole, ensuring balance, visual flow, and architectural tone throughout the home.

  • The look, feel, and function of each joinery zone is resolved, providing clear direction for the kitchen, bathroom vanities, laundry, wardrobes, and key built-in elements.

    This includes:

    • Joinery finish and material selections (external + internal)

    • Benchtop and splashback material coordination

    • Handle detail or integrated pull specification

    • Joinery colour scheme and tonal balance

    • Design intent sketches for each area (e.g. kitchen, vanities, laundry, robes)

    • Basic layout logic (e.g. tall units, open shelving, drawer stacks)

    • Notes and references to support cabinetry dialogue with builder or cabinetmaker

While technical shop drawings are not produced, each zone is underpinned by a considered aesthetic and practical foundation, providing the build team with clear, cohesive guidance from the outset.

The emphasis remains on functional flow and visual rhythm, ensuring joinery solutions feel resolved rather than decorative.

  • A comprehensive document outlining every approved finish and fixture. Professionally formatted and ready to issue to a builder, cabinetmaker, tiler, or painter.

    Includes:

    • Supplier, product code, and finish specification

    • Area of application (e.g. kitchen splashback, bathroom floor)

    • Quantity or layout guidance (e.g. full height, 150mm upstand, herringbone lay)

    • Embedded reference images

    • Clear formatting to avoid on-site confusion or misinterpretation

This schedule reduces guesswork, ensures procurement accuracy, and allows the team to move forward with clarity and confidence.

  • A beautifully presented document that captures the full visual direction of the home. Ideal for reviewing, referencing, and aligning all parties before works begin.

    Includes:

    • Complete finishes, fixtures and lighting palette

    • Mood references for materiality, tone, and spatial layering

    • Design rationale and guiding notes

    • Cohesive, high-level visual summary of interior direction

This lookbook anchors the aesthetic of the project. A reference point for the build, and a record of the intent behind every choice.

While the design lookbook and selections schedule offer complete clarity for most clients, tailored visualisations (such as 3D renders) can be commissioned for select spaces if desired. These are quoted separately on request.

  • One structured review is built into the process, allowing space to fine-tune selections and ensure everything feels aligned before it's documented.

Further revisions can be quoted if required, though most clients find clarity comes early when the process is this considered.

  • All deliverables are completed and issued within 4 weeks of the initial briefing session.

The process is fast, focused, and designed to align with typical renovation and pre-construction timelines.

Beyond This Service

    • Furniture or décor sourcing

    • Technical construction drawings

    • External colours or landscaping

    • On-site coordination

This is not a full-service engagement. It’s a focused, high-impact design direction package, delivered clearly, efficiently, and with intent.
